“Vegan Womble is a useful source of information for new and all vegans” - The Vegan Society
Our unofficial supermarket vegan lists include accidentally vegan products, and products that are considered suitable for vegans, but are not necessarily labelled vegan. We include products that state ‘may contain milk/egg’, i.e. they are at risk of cross-contamination during the manufacturing process. This is simply an allergy warning, but these products cannot be marked vegan by law.
The official vegan lists are published by the supermarkets themselves, and only include products that had no chance of cross-contamination in their production.
